Biography
Martin Pryce was born in Birmingham,
England and moved to Canada in his childhood. Growing
up in London, Ontario, he studied at H.B. Beal Secondary
School in one of Ontario's top high school art programs.
The Beal Art program has produced some of Canada's most
talented artists.
Understanding the need to be continually
improving, Martin developed his skills by attending
scores of workshops, both private and public. He has
almost always worked for himself, whether it is in his
architectural illustration business or his art school,
known as the Newmarket School of Fine Art, established
in 1992. Martin has sold many originals throughout North
America and has received numerous awards and commissions.
Together with his brother John, he
co-founded Plein Air Canada. The two of them have always
painted together and are becoming well known as "The
Pryce Brothers". Both of them love the freedom
of painting on location. In fact, Martin is establishing
himself as one of those rare artisits who value the
importance of painting on location. He believes the
knowledge and awareness he achieves from location work
shows through in all of his paintings. Martin and John
are currently working on establishing their workshop
schedules for both home and abroad.
